<image:title>About - Luutch is creative time to myself.</image:title>
<image:caption>My name is Martha and I’m the founder of Luutch Studio. I’m Irish born and currently splitting my time between Ireland and The Netherlands. My professional background is in advertising but my passion lies in having the freedom to create. Luutch is my time away from work, home life and motherhood. It’s me spending time and trying to see what I can make.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Luutch is all the different tangents I allow myself to go down.</image:title>
<image:caption>It’s really not at all that long since I picked up a paintbrush again. Last year, after my newly born daughter started to form a reliable sleeping pattern, that coupled with the worldwide shutdown alà Covid, like everyone else I had time on my hands. I was determined not to waste it on Netflix. And so, I started painting again. My creative time is more than one particular thing. It probably stems from a deeply inherent love of learning. I love to learn. And I learn by doing and so I can be found drawing, illustrating, writing, designing and brainstorming.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - Luutch is freedom and fun.</image:title>
<image:caption>Luutch is not a brand name to hide behind. It’s an extension of myself. Everything I create under the umbrella of Luutch is about freedom, exploration and ultimately fun and learning. All the pieces I produce are done with a sincerity and a spark of joy at having made something I like to look at myself, never mind anyone else.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - Birthday Bouquet. - A sketch that became something more.</image:title>
<image:caption>My intention for this piece at the time was nothing more than a quick sketch, so to speak. It was meant to be a few minutes throwing paint at a page to see if I could unblock whatever it was that was blocking me. My birthday had just been and I had received a lovely bouquet as a gift and it was staring at me from the top of the dresser. I just sat and threw paint over chaotic lines.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - Birthday Bouquet. - A life of its own.</image:title>
<image:caption>It only took a few minutes to see that something more than a creative exercise was bubbling. This happens to me so regularly; that what I’m supposed to be focussing on becomes laborious, and the exercise to unblock myself becomes the new centrepiece.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - More More More. - Exploring chaos and order.</image:title>
<image:caption>This piece is a prime example of my creative process; a frenzy of painting. Ahead of time I decide on a strict colour palette and get to work. I set down multiple pages or canvas and lose myself for hours in the different combinations that come up. This particular piece was the result of such an evening. Experimenting with different backgrounds, different floral motifs, different splatter techniques. By the time I got to finishing this piece I had lost my careful and tidy technique and replaced it with ferver, keeping in mind the patterns I was creating I was approaching them with a creative burst to be free and careless.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - Ocean Romance. - Ten limited edition prints.</image:title>
<image:caption>I have such a soft spot for this painting since it came to fruition a few months ago. Contrary to my usual ‘hit and run’ way of working, this is one of a few where I really took my time to let it evolve into something other worldly. Even now, I can sit and look at it and find an escape to somewhere else for a moment. The concept for this painting came about in 2020 during the height of lockdown No. 2. Thinking back on it, I probably needed an otherworldly escape.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - Ocean Romance.</image:title>
<image:caption>For this reason, I'm incredibly excited to release 10 limited edition prints. It came about as a request from a close friend and I decided that I really wanted other people to enjoy the same feeling that this painting brings to me. The prints are incredibly high quality, printed on a substantial pressed linen stock. Though a print will never be exactly the same as the original, this print matches the canvas original extraordinarily well. The details are sharp and fluid and as an extra bonus, it features its own natural border and the signature Luutch stamp.</image:caption>
